What To Expect With A $500 Down Payment

How to get the most vehicle for the least down payment? That seems to be the burning question of all prospective customers. The most common dollar amount that the BHPH lot encounters is $500. This is an entry level down payment amount on most lots. What kind of vehicle can you expect? Let’s be honest, if you are on a BHPH lot looking for a vehicle, it’s important to be realistic with your expectations. Do not expect a late model luxury ride with a $500 down payment. You should look to rebuild your financial well being by opting out for a basic transportation vehicle. The first rule to abide by after any financial meltdown is the affordability of repayment. Don’t make wild repayment promises that will be difficult to keep. That is a recipe for repossession, and that is what you want to avoid at all costs. Oftentimes, BHPH dealers are the last stop for the financially challenged car buyer.

Your main concern in your search should be vehicle reliability and road-worthiness. Make sure the vehicle is mechanically sound and is safety checked. Look into extended warranty coverage from the dealer. After all, the vehicle is no good to you if it isn’t running. Many times warranty coverage cost can be included in the repayment schedule. Another advantage to dealer provided extended warranty coverage is that it puts the burden of keeping you on the road with the company that sold you the vehicle. He is the one who keeps your car going so you can get to work to earn the money it takes for you to repay him.

If you become a reliable customer by keeping to your repayment schedule, then you can almost write your own ticket with your dealer. You become quite valuable to him and he will want to keep you from going elsewhere. Therefore, you can ask for an upgrade and he may be quite amenable to your request. Quality customers who have a positive repayment history are what BHPH dealers covet. Those types of customers make them profitable. Your goal with the $500 down payment is to work toward that end.

The Best Time To Buy A Used Car Is In December

When is the best time to purchase a vehicle? I guess the simple answer to that one is when you need to. However, if you are in a position to choose a time to buy, the best answer is in December. There are a few reasons for this. Not the least of which, is that it is generally a time when business is off because of Christmas. Most people buy small ticket items at that time of the year; generally as gifts. Therefore, many people stay away from that big purchase like a car. Dealers may also be trying to make year end quotas and reach sales objectives at this time. Many dealers need room on their lot for “spring market” vehicles. Many new car franchises are giving sales incentives from their respective manufacturers to sell off old inventory. These sales incentives, oftentimes, include special financing rates as well as reduced prices. So, it it obvious that almost everything points to a buyers’ market in December.

We recommend that the new car buyer look seriously at “left over” models that are new or slightly used. Dealers’ new car models are often in conflict with these left overs because of pricing and factories offer the dealer big discounts to their cost as an incentive for dealers’ to lower their prices in an effort rid themselves of this burdensome conflict. This bodes well for the smart consumer who doesn’t mind driving a new or slightly used one year old model. If you plan on keeping your vehicle for a while, this makes perfect sense. Most times body style and equipment are the same from year to year. So the sacrifice of buying a car that is a year old is minimum and the price savings more than offset.

In December, we have motivated sellers with burgeoning inventories, and this all adds up to a great time to buy for the savvy car shopper. Happy hunting from the staff at BHPHPrices.com
